A nurse clinician is a registered nurse who maintains a specialized body of knowledge used in providing individualized patient care and education. May provide treatments and perform procedures in care of the patients. Conduct assessments of the patient population, makes interventions and utilizes available resources in conjunction with the health care team. May provide education program opportunities to the nursing staff, patients and their families.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or the equivalent in a combination of an ADN and relevant experience. Licensed as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri. Current BCLS certification. Two years experience in related area of nursing preferred.
The UH Orthopedic clinic is open Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30. This position will have responsibilities at the University Health Lakewood campus one day per week, with the rest of the week at the University Health Truman Medical Center campus. It is a salary position, five 8 hour shifts per week.
The nurse clinician provides care planning for a physician’s caseload; duties like clinic chart preparation, surgery education, navigating clearances before surgery, scheduling surgery and post op visits, completing required paperwork (FMLA, etc.), assisting with injections in clinic, and more. The clinician will work with 1-2 physicians in the orthopedic clinic.
